Home decorating (or lack of)

Home decorating is something I haven't done since I have been on my own. (ahem 14 years). I always thought I wouldn't be somewhere long enough. Our current place we have been there 7 years but it looks like we are only staying temporarily. We tried here or there to stick with a theme but in all honesty it is pretty half assed. This new place will be different. We only have a year least but I plan on LIVING there not just staying there. When it comes to decorating I am floundering. I know what I like and what I don't want, but I already hate everything and it is still "in my head" stages. I made a polyvore set, I don't think I even like that. I have NO polyvore abilities. Some people makes these gorgeous collages. Mine looks like a 7 year old put it together. I debated sharing it at all but I am. I have my reasons.

We already have the kitchen table, plates, red cushions, cedar chest, teal cushions. So I am building on that. It is the rug I am having a hard time with. I hate everything. I don't like to throw around the word hate but seriously I hate every rug I see. Except this one. I dig it. So the reason I am sharing?? If you see something in a similar color family could you let me know? Cheaper the better. The cats will destroy it so it is just a question of when. The one pictured is more than I want to spend. For the wall picture I want to use a photo someone I know takes. I don't have one yet. I have a few contenders in mind though. I am on the fence with the pillow too.

I hate all shower curtains of a reasonable price point too.
