Weekend roundup (PHOTO HEAVY)
This weekend gram came to visit us in Boston on the train for the very first time. ( Before I was born my uncle was visiting Boston and was murdered. Wrong place wrong time. So while it isn't the same city anymore it still has kept my family away) Warning there are a ton of photos. I asked Dave to make sure there was lots so we could make her a little album of her "big trip" to show her friends.(she LOVES that stuff)
We went to meet her at the train station bright and early.
She was nervous. She never did things like this alone, she always did it with pop so this was a big deal she came. Pop passed away last year and we have been trying to talk her into it since. We bought her a train ticket and an event ticket and told her how nice it would be. She would even love the train and it was a short 1.5 hour ride and we'd be there on the other end waiting. Promise. The whole thing was Dave's idea and he was nervous. He loves gram as if she were his own and wants her to be happy. He kept taking pictures while we waited.
and then there she was!!!
Of course we had to take pics. Look how chic she looks! She fit right in the city with her blazer and metallic purse.
We went and had coffee and took her for a short walk around our neighborhood.
Then we headed to her birthday present, the reason for the trip.
The circus!
We were all so mesmerized that we didn't take pics of the show. But we did get one of the goats riding the tiny ponies.
The Big Apple circus is different than the Barnum and Bailey one. This one only has a couple animals and it is all people performance based. If it comes near you it is worth checking out. We have been a few times over the years and it is a different show every year.
After the circus we took her to a cute restaurant on the waterfront and had a yummy lunch before showing her our apartment.
Then we drove her back home to NH and spent the night. We played games and sat and talked.
After she went to bed Dave and I went grocery shopping (NH is so much cheaper than MA) and went for ice cream at a place we went when we first met (friendlys!)
Mother's day we worked in the yard and cleaned out the garage. Gram's furnace blew and it has been a very long process gutting the basement and going through everything she owns. We went home very tired and dirty.

Friday night I had soup and salad Dave brought from Panera and we cleaned the apt until 1 am. Saturday we had tiny sliders. Sunday we had pot roast, carrots, squash(?) sweet potatoes, onions and corn bread (with molasses!!)

My weekend was a blast. Art Crawl, visited with Mom, and Super Saturday at Goodwill. I ate mostly junk all weekend so I'm cooking "healthy" at home. We had McD's, Arby's, and Bread and Company (local chain a lot like Panera) over the weekend. Today I've already made salmon patties for lunch and for dinner I'm making chicken pot pie with cornbread on top instead of pie crust. Your Sunday dinner sounds amaaaazing.

I had a great weekend. I went to visit a friend for her birthday, so we had all sorts of delicious food. On Friday we went out to dinner and had an appetizer sampler with coconut shrimp, crab cakes, calamari, duck egg rolls, and tuna sashimi, followed by a spinach salad with butternut squash, roasted onion, craisins and sunflower seeds. For my entree I had honey/rosemary duck with truffle mac&cheese. Her cake was peach cake with lavender icing, which sounds weird but was absolutely delicious. On Sat we Asian food, Hawaiian poke and a caterpillar roll, with a turtle sundae from DQ for dessert. Yesterday I had lobster corn chowder, seafood cannelloni and sangria. I definitely don't eat like this normally, but I enjoyed it while it lasted!
