Today I felt so chic. Until I saw these photos. I forwarded them to Dave and he said without prompting that the pants look totally different in person. Here not so cute. They aren't jeans they are actually dress pants in an extremely lightweight staticy fabric. This is them on the left. I think instead of the heels I am wearing I need bigger ones? I also should of went down a size or two in the sweater. It is just too much fabric.I also have a long sleeve shirt on tucked in under my short sleeve shirt. It is FREEZING in my office.

I matched my shoes to my bag and my hair clip to my scarf that you can't see. :)

The cardigan has a curved front and the shirt is a boxy silk one from my gram. It has a tonal pattern and a tucked collar.

I like how my makeup came out.I got a coral/peach lip which to many may look like normal lip color to some but my lips aren't very pigmented so it comes out at a nice pop of color. The blush is the same color and I think it will be my new holy grail blush. (makeup girls call THE product their holy grail because it is so hard to find. I think of Monty Python then I just start laughing)

You look very nice today. I think the pants suffer from too much static, they are supposed to fall straight and the static pulls them in around your lower legs. I'm glad it's Tuesday, the week feels long already.

Welp. It is the longest it has ever been my entire life. I always had a bob. After growing it out the past 3.5 years I always wanted long hair but it is such a nightmare to take care of. I am a giant snarl ball most the time. Not only is it thick but I have a lot and I am always getting it caught in things and people accidentally pulling it.

That all said I do love it. My mom who always liked it me my bob talked me off the chopping it off cliff last week. I actually tried to do your lazy updo last night and it was too long to do it. I need to figure out how to do some sort of updo that isn't a pony once it gets warm again.

I really really like this, even if the pictures don't do it justice. I think it looks pretty sleek for being so oversized on top. And your hair is beautiful.

This is going be an odd comment, but here is goes anyway - Your picture is angled from above your waist (I'm assuming) which, in my opinion, is not as flattering for pants-based outfits because it can cause legs to look unrealistically short/stumpy. The image of the models - taken from below their waist height adding to their visual legline (plus a probable good deal of photoshop in there too).

All that speculation aside, I think you look cute anyway. I like your makeup. I have a similar issue with lip pigment. I really lip Hard Candy's Vixen lipgloss because it gives my lips a lasting slight tint even when the gloss disappears. I like the funky pearl necklace, it's a fun twist to a classic piece.

Hi Hillary. Love the sweater, it's cute. (and I don't think it looks too big in the photos). So, I don't comment very often, but do have a subscription in google reader. As a fellow makeup lover I would love it if you would post your makeup colors too, when you mention them as part of your post. Because now I am absolutely dying to know what the holy grail blush color is! :-)

It hangs over my hand about 4 or 5 inches but admittedly you can't see that here. The back too. I am NOT that wide. ;)

I used to mention them in my post but honestly people didn't seem to care one way or the other when polled so i stopped because it was way more work for something the majority of people didn't care to read.

Not weird at all. That is definitely part of it but I take my pics at the same height every time so I know that isn't all of it but really the big part of it is that they are totally staticy and my shoes aren't tall enough so they aren't hanging like they did when I tried it on with a much larger shoe on tile floors that didn't turn me into a lightening robs of static cling.

I wish it was pearls! It's just boring ivory plastic balls. Some faceted some not. It would be hot in pearls.

I actually like the pants in these pictures, so they must be really awesome in pictures! I really want trouser jeans or something like you have on, but I have a very boxy shape so I avoid wide legs. I do like the under shirt a whole lot. Oh, and yay on finding a HG blush! I keep thinking I've found mine and then something else comes along and overtakes it. (when I first heard of HG makeup products I always thought how one must go into the cave with the toothy bunny to get them)

If you worry about wide bottom I would highly suggest actual denim and now this thin wrinkles if you look at it sideways. A stiff denim lays so much nicer. My H&M pants for example.

I thought I mentioned it in the post? Two people who see me daily said something about it. They both saw my blog first and asked to see it when they saw me. Its a little fake hair clip. I always forget to wear them.

I think heel just a smidgen higher could work, becuase then there won't be the break right above my sheos! I have a pair of pants that are the same: so chic in person, but just don't photograph well. There is one pic of them that look like I disconnected my leg from my body. So if I assume your pants look like my pants in person, I do love them!

I agree that taller shoes might have helped with the pants, but I still like the outfit. And the makeup is fantastic! Love it!

By the way, I wanted to let you know I've gotten some questions on my "I care" button which have led to some great conversations and lots of positive feedback!

I don't think the pants look bad at all! It's always a crapshoot with photos and wide-legs I feel. The camera never quite catches how lovely they look in person.

I think I might have to hem them. I had 3 inch heels on and that is about my limit for walking all day in. (by limit I mean the only height I can wear before I have to carry spare shoes)
