Two days until vacation!
I knew I was feeling cloudy headed but I didn't know it was so visible. woah.
yeah it is so quiet at work this week. Insanely quiet. Like you can hear my shutter quiet.
My Marc boots are softening up already. In a month they will have a little slouch going I think.
They are fun because from the front they are tall enough that most my dresses cover the tops of them and they don't look like much but when I turn around and people see them the reactions are fun. It has taken a few people by surprise.
Dress and Boots Marc by Marc Jacobs I looked back through my outfit archives and I think this is the most worn item of clothing in my closet.
Purple turtleneck and sweater leggings H&M
Hoodie from Target in LA (that makes it fancier)
Lilac nails Done out in Deco by OPI It is a coincidence they match
Necklace Gift
Earrings Target
It is obviously I love a hoodie. I also have a job that allows creative freedom (but it is a bit conservative in general just due to the nature of librarians) and I am easily one of the more dressed up people most days. (there are few.. but not a lot) I love pairing the dressier with the casual to create a happy hillary medium. I have always done that. As a kid I would put jewelry on with my play clothes. Or chucks with a fancy dress. It was kinda of a melding of my mom and dad into one dresser. My mom with her piles of bangles with a tshirt and my dad in his chambray shirts for "fancy" occasions. I mean I am half each of them it makes sense they each represent half my wardrobe? :p The matching of things head to toe is all pop though. He was the SNAZZIEST dresser ever.
Do you take after your parents when it comes to taste in clothes?
I told you about my parents above, when it comes to day to day, Dave dresses like me most the time. I then turn around and copy him. Today we are both wearing blue tops with orange sweaters. He probably has on his man boots too. He copied me this time.

p.s. i just started a little fashion blog of my own, where i document my daily outfits. but here's the catch: i have to wear something different every day for the rest of 2010. and i can't buy anything new. yeah, that's right. it's on-the-edge-of-your-seat exciting. come on by. if you think you can handle it.

I dig the boot photo. I am glad they are softening. I bought new boots to go dancing in this past Friday. On Saturday we went dancing, and the insides of the boots tore my socks up. But the lowers are softening to where they are almost comfortable already. I kinda wish I'd gotten a heel, because flats without arches are painful. :-/
I take after my dad in my love of minimalism - he's a jeans-or-khakis+clean black t = good outfit (add a button-up shirt left open over the t and you're dressed up) kind of guy.
My love of skirts and a feminine silhouette comes from my mom - she lives in gorgeous "hippie" skirts almost year-round, with a plain black top for everyday and a colorful cardigan added for going out.
My husband and I have "matching closets" - i.e., our closets are full of similar colors. *shakes head* We try to avoid matching... But it happens. ^.^
My mother is one of those people who is always put together/matching/made-up. I was the complete opposite of her when I was younger, but I'm beginning to see the value in her style now. My father would be perfectly content wearing rags if my mom let him . . .
"Hoodie from Target in LA (that makes it fancier)" - SO TRUE.
I'm totally the opposite of my mom's style most of the time. She tends to take after her "Native-American" blood being tanned and having that smokey dark hair. She leans more into the boho styles. I'm still sort of dabbling with my style so I'm not sure I can categorize it, but it's usually very structured.
As for the question about dressing like my parents, that would be a big NO. I have a dream to never wear a pair of pants again, I love love love dresses. My mother on the other hand would love to attend formal occasions in jeans and t-shirts. Her style is very 8-year old boy.
I don't take after my parents when it comes to clothing taste, they both are very casual and I like to dress up for everything. And my mom pretty much adheres to fashion "rules" and matchy-matchy while I try and mix it up; she's a beautiful woman but I'm trying to shake her out of that matching shell. Dad's funny b/c he's a preacher and he's always worn cowboy boots with his two- and three- piece Sunday suits, always, for as long as I can remember. And jeans in the pulpit for Wednesday night service.
One way I absolutely do take after my mom is in shopping style. She taught me how to bargain shop from the time I was 3 years old. We're going on my annual Orlando Outlet day-long birthday shopping trip next week and it's one of the happiest days of the year. We bargain shop till we can't move! It's our favorite sport.
Happy Vacation! I start mine Thursday - 10 days off, horray! Hope you have a fun, relaxing time on yours.
