Toeing my comfort zone
Edited to add this intro.... Let me start with what sparked all this. Do you read Keiko Lynn? If not it is a damn shame because she is not only DROP DEAD GORGEOUS she is real, she stumbles, she is a bit clumsy and emotional and you know what so am I. I dislike shiny happy no soul blogs and hers I could eat for dessert. This post in particular sent me to the makeup counter. OK onto the story...
I am admittedly shy. My mom and husband confirmed that in the comments last week and I don't (didn't) like to draw attention to myself. Probably because most my life I got negative attention. I was the "weird" kid. I have never in real life been hit on by a guy. I just haven't. Don't even try to argue the matter with me. My friends know the truth. I know another girl who has had a similar experience and it is no wonder we love one another! Weird kids unite! And then scurry off and hide in the corner. This month I have been doing "remix" for 4 years! I am coming out of my shell and am drawing more attention to myself the longer I do it. I still get a lot of negative attention. (People think they just say what ever shit comes to their mind. I don't get it. My lipstick gives you permission to forget social graces and me an asshat? Huh they really should write that on the tube) But through the wonders of the Internet I have learned that there are people out there that appreciate what I am doing and "get me" (Can I just bottle you all up?) I am not talking about positive comments. Heck I don't even care if you like it I want to know that you get where I was coming from with it. When I was in art school. (god that sounds pretentious)well when I was in school I actually preferred the critiques where my piece upset people. The ones where they were arguing with one another and just amped up about it. That meant PEOPLE WERE PAYING ATTENTION. A simple "great video" wasn't something I learned anything from. I didn't take anything away from critiques like that.
My point? I bought a bright ass lipstick. We are talking NEON.

And you know what I kinda love it.

People were STARING this morning on the train and I noticed something. Only one person other than me had on a color that could be classified as anything other than "neutral" or "natural" look. I don't subscribe to that. I subscribe to the more the better school of thought. The more sparkly things I can slap on my face the closer I am to a tranny and I love me a tranny. I want to make friends with one that can do that OUTRAGEOUS eye makeup. I also want a makeover to look like a man trying to be a woman. (I might be too big busted for that but anyways...)
In an attempt to again toe that comfort zone I asked this GORGEOUS girl if I could take her picture because I wanted to copy here eyeliner. She said yes and was flattered.

I bought the kind of liner she had on and this was my first shot.

I challenge you to do one thing out of your comfort zone today. Even as simple as writing on a business thing with purple pen. Something you can be excited by. To all the ladies scared of bright lipstick? You can just wipe it back off!

So, what will I try out of my comfort zone today? I dunno, but I like a challenge and will try and come up with something.
I don't think I can push myself further out of my comfort zone...I've been running my agency for 3 weeks with no staff and 15 campaigns on the books. Does that count?
it reminds me of my mom :) she always wore fuscia lipstick when she went out. or orange.
2. I love that lipstick on you!
3. I love your lipstick case, so elegant and ladylike.
4. I love this post.
In conclusion, I'm feeling a lot of love today.

I think you're awesome. I never got hit on either.
That color looks fantastic on you! Your dress, your purple earring, your skin and hair color - everything just pops!

Dave ha on the "out of my families comfort zone but not mine"
jennoit. I didn't used to have any balls when it came to makeup but someone said to me "it washes off!'
LaShaune you know I love a blue polish!
Heather mine are as well. That is why it is best to get blue toned colors such as this one and I go for blue reds.
clare I feel the lazy thing. OH man do I. THIS HEAT makes me a slug.
Felicity I am like a walking ball of color some days. We don't have enough of that on the streets here.
Shelia see I knew there was a reason I got you? ;)
Lemondrop I can't tell if that is a good thing or a bad thing? :0
Jessica thanks for unlurking!
Twills I am the same way. I am so scared to comment on blogs because I feel like I am walking up to a conversation I wasn't invited to.
I bleed pink thanks!
Lisa that is because you are about to have the biggest love fest of a day sooN!!!!!!!!!!eeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Melissa what do ya do?
Curlyred honestly before tuesday I wasn't convinced I could either. I tried a few until I liked one. That is what MAC is great for. testing it out.
masami now orange I haven't tried!
Thanks so much everyone. I really appreciate each comment. To those who wondered the color is by MAC and called "Girl about town"
I'm going to try something that I've wanted to try for a while. I'm going to put eye liner on tomorrow and NOT smudge it..that will definitely be out of my comfort zone. I hope I don't look ridiculous. ;)
And how did you know that I conduct almost all my business in purple pen?
(Sidenote: do you know how hard it is to buy just a purple pen, not in a pack of all kinds of different pen colors? Very hard. )
