What's in my bag?
Neverfull is right! In the two months I have been using this tote I have never filled it. I just keep cramming stuff in it. Dave affectionately nick-named it the TARDIS the week I got it. "Bigger on the inside"

When we got home after a weekend away my purse was HEAVY but still not full. Over the weekend I had just kept adding stuff to it to the point I could barely carry it. I figured while I was emptying it that is was a great time for a what's in my bag post! That is Daisyboo's head. She wasn't in the bag but she insisted on getting in the photos.
My organizer Dave made me was full of little goodies.

And I had a bottle of shampoo and conditioner in there.

Some items:
a sweater,a pair of shoes, a wallet, comb, package of tiny elastics, two bottles of polish, my nook, comb, 2 packages of candy cigarettes, bag of jelly bellies, bag of tootsie rolls, a magazine, jewelry, band-aids, 6 lip products, a tube of cocoa butter, a swiss army knife, jerky, iphone, headphones, ninja, plastic flower rings, partridge in a pear tree, lollipop, cupcake scented pen, hand sanitizer, advil, my rx, solid perfume, nook charger, keys, business cards......
Speaking of business cards....Here is a question for you. I am admittedly VERY social awkward. At an ice cream stand yesterday I met a cousin I hadn't seen since she was a baby yesterday, so essentially I don't know her. I didn't even know what she looked like but Dave saw her name on her tip cup and put two and two together. I shoved my hand through the window and said "Hey I am your cousin Hillary" she is going to be going to the school I work and at and I said "Hey call me once you start school" I was so fumbly I didn't know what to say... so then...this is the part I question. I gave her my byhillary business card. Was that silly? My family (minus mom) doesn't know about my blog. That side of the family certainly doesn't. Now I gave her this narcissistic little card with a picture of me and my name on it 3 times. Am I totally uncool in this 18 year old's eyes now? Should I just of jotted down my number? ARGH. I am SO bad in the moment. I embarrass myself OFTEN. What would you of done?

And now we all know we can buy you candy ciggies as a gift. I wasn't expecting that....

I've never had a business card, but when people give me their cards (or I've seen people exchanging cards) I've always been in this kind of awe of it. It seems so grown up.
Also, that bag doesn't look gigantic, but that is a lot of stuff! No wonder it was so heavy!
So that's probably why the business card thing led to doubt. But what I say is: lookit! It's a handy card with all your relevant contact info centered in one easy-to-carry space! Brilliant! Of course you give it to someone who needs your contact info, be it long lost relative or traveling ice cream truck that you are afraid you'll never find again. Because it works!
I made myself up a business card, too - I have a very chic wooden card holder for it. I am not shy about giving cards out, though. I agree with everyone else - your cousin probably thinks you are the epitome of cool now.
I know cause they are saying it to me. I tell them I can NOT get her a job I have no authority over that.
I would have done the same thing. It's just the easiest, quickest way to give someone your business card. (Granted, technically since I don't have business cards, I wouldn't have done that, but if I did have business cards, I would've.)
You never know, you could be a huge inspiration to her and the mentor that she needs right now.
Wait, are 18-year-olds too cool for mentors?
Eh...
Your blog is more likely to make her think you are cool than not - at least you're technologically in touch. And according to my step kids, no one 18 thinks anyone our age is cool, so don't even beat yourself up about it.
I think I would probably just be available if she does want to hang out or wants advice when she starts at school, but I don't think I would really put myself out there and plan things unless she seemed really interested.
